a letter to my Mom.. and to myself. Cause lets face it all letters are partially for the writer

I realized today what has been the flaw in my politics. I have focused on injustice and the way tro correct those grievances. In this way I have been reactionary, past looking … Conservative. While this may allow me to capture the momentary rage of my listeners, it does nothing to draw upon their dreams and hopes. I have espoused “ a Vision for the future” which is nothing other than a pencil sketch of the present  with a small dose of retribution.
I now see that I can not inspire people to believe in retribution. I must take time a time to develop a true Vision to head towards. One that not only addresses and rectifies past wrongs, but one that will allow us to switch focus to creating a future that is not only better, but important and purposeful.
I can see what the political greats were doing now. Trudeau, was not about correcting errors, but establishing a constitutional democracy on top of our democracy. Even Mulroney (misguided), thought that free trade was a worthy goal to aspire to.
Your “Papa-Jean”, as you are fond of saying. Looked to Canada, as a world leader in diplomacy. Jack, to a world where Canadians discussions around “the kitchen table” were meaningful and purposeful. Even this (Cough) “Man” running things now, was able to inspire people to his vision of a cold and determined place.
Anyway Mom it was a watershed moment for me, and alas I have no one who listen to my political diatribes, as I have only captured their angers, not their ability to dream.
So as I needed to share I sent you an email
Love Scott
